2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Home Try-Ons Part 1

I look forward to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale every year, but I always take the sales with a grain of salt. 40% isn't that much off, and typically the items go on further sale (up to 60% off or more) in just a few months - I typically see the best deals around Black Friday timeline. For me, I like to get universal items that I know I will wear frequently and will get their money's worth before they even have a chance to go on further sale. Also, I like to the take the opportunity to try on the items I have my eye on so that I know whether or not they'll fit once they do get marked down further.

With that said, I got quite a few things this year to try on, and to be honest I'm only keeping a select few for now. But I wanted to show these items on a real person with honest opinions for others who have their eye on them! There are some seriously cute items, and so the first of my home try-ons are below! What items do you love or dislike from this year's sale?

Andrew Marc Ombré Two-Button Car Coat (M) - This ombre coloring is absolutely gorgeous, and I am super bummed that the sizing didn't work out. The sizing recommendation is to go up one size as it runs small, but I wish I went ahead and got a small as I normally would have. I would consider myself to have broad shoulders, but the shoulders on this coat and the sleeves made it look way too oversized. I'd suggest getting your normal size!

J Crew Ruffle Trim Dress (6P) - I actually already own this dress but wanted to include it in my try-ons so you can see what it looks like. It's one of my go-to work dresses as the length is perfect, it's incredibly flattering, and it takes 10 seconds to look perfectly polished and professional. Plus, what doesn't go with navy?? This dress is an absolute must-have!

Paige Hoxton High Waist Straight Ankle Raw Hem Jeans (27) - I have been on the hunt for a great pair of pale pink jeans. Sadly, these were a little too long on my 5'2" frame for my liking (though I can always cut them shorter), and weren't very comfortable with my growing baby bump. These are what I would categorize in the "save for later" pile for when either they go on further sale, or if they're still around after the baby is born.

Madewell Province Cross Back Knit Pullover (M) - This is one seriously comfy sweater, guys. I love the marled look and you can never have too many sweaters (right?) If the sweater is still sold out online at Nordstrom, there are still some available (on even further sale) at Madewell! I would suggest going up a size for a more oversized fit!

BP. Tonya Open Toe Mule (7) - I love love love the sweetheart top of these shoes, and the price point is perfect right now being under $50. They come in a few gorgeous colors (I also love the blush pink and candy red) that are also just as gorgeous. These are a no brainer in my opinion!

Eliza J Faux Wrap Midi Dress (6P) - This is one of the items that I bought that I was so sure I was going to keep (I mean, look at that gorgeous print and color!!), but was so bummed that it didn't seem to fit well, especially around the bust. Pregnancy boobs are no joke, and this dress would just not look appropriate anywhere with how much it gaped in the front haha. I could try sizing up, but I feel that it would just then get too baggy in the areas that fit already like the shoulders.

Lewit Alessia Flat Shoes (7) - These shoes are simply gorgeous, and actually really comfortable! The ruffle detail is really fun and add a bit of glamour and interest to an otherwise plain shoe. I also love how even as ankle strap flats they still help elongate my legs! I think they'll definitely be a work staple for me for the next while.

Charles Henry Ruffle Shift Dress (MP) - I really love how cute this dress is, but I didn't feel it stood out to me. I didn't absolutely love it, and so not worth keeping for myself. The fit was great and I really loved the length of the petite on my frame, but I don't think I'd wear it enough to justify it.

Halogen Pleated Top (S) - I actually really loved this top and thought it fit well, but I knew it wouldn't stretch well once the bump grows, so I decided to return it this time around. The print is pretty dang gorgeous though, and I'm happy that it's also lined.

J Crew Olga Boiled Wool Topcoat (4)- This color is gorgeous, but man this coat is itchy :( Unfortunately, it isn't lined and that really doesn't help justify the nearly-$200 price tag. If you love it though, it would work really well with sweaters and fits TTS.

Eileen Fisher Crop Jumpsuit (XS) - How stunning is this jumpsuit?? It also comes in black, but I have so many black jumpsuits that I wanted to try it in this cobalt blue. I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to keep it or not, considering the pricier cost ($252). I could wear this to work with a tailored blazer, or date night with a pair of strappy heels. What do you guys think?

Vince Darlington Flat (7) - I've seen so many people drawn to these shoes and I can definitely see why. Vince is one of my favorite brands in general, and the shoes of theirs that I own last years. They're on the pricier side, but worth every single penny in my opinion. Plus, this is a great neutral that'll go with absolutely everything!

BP. Textured Stitch V-Neck Pullover (M) - I'm really digging this sweater! It's lightweight and the color is a great neutral. My only concern is that it could probably easily snag, but the price is great at just over $25 for something that may not last years and years. The soft v-neck also hits at just the right spot to be appropriate, but not stuffy. I'm loving how it pairs well with these boyfriend jeans.

Caslon Arden Embroidered Boyfriend Jeans (28P) - I'm glad I sized up for getting a petite size, as the fit was really great on me. I was actually really impressed with these jeans, especially for their great price ($59) and that I've never tried Caslon jeans before. They straddle that fine line of fitted and baggy for that perfect boyfriend-jean fit. These could be a great staple in my weekend wardrobe!

Joie Ance Pleated Back Short Sleeve Blouse (S) - I wanted to love this top for a great "pop" piece to wear to work, but unfortunately I found that it ran a bit small. I tried to get a photo of the pleat in the sleeves, as it's such a pretty top, but I didn't think it worked well on me. I would recommend going up a size if you have broader shoulders or a larger bust.
