2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Home Try-Ons Part 2
We are about a week into the Public Access for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and items are popping in and out of stock. I had checked an item three times in one day and different sizes were available every time! So if you have your eye on something, don't give up hope if it's sold out (for now)! Below is the second round of home try-ons for this year's #NSale - what items do you have in your shopping basket?
Topshop Colorblock Knit Pullover (8 US) - I'm sure you've seen this sweater allll over Instagram already. I was excited to try it, but was ultimately disappointed. The neck was really tight on me for some reason, and the material wasn't super stretchy or soft. It's not like it was itchy or anything, but I expected better.
Madewell Waffle Stitch Sweater Jacket (S) - This is another item that I had previously owned, but wanted to include in the roundup as it's part of the sale this year for under $100! Such a great piece to throw on in the office on chilly days, or over leggings and a tee to elevate a weekend-errands look. I've been into waffle stitch sweaters for a bit now, so it's a must-have imo!
BP. Textured Stitch V-Neck Pullover (M) - See my review in Part 1.
SPANX Faux Leather Leggings (M) - Ahh the coveted faux-leather SPANX leggings. I'm wearing them in both photos above, so you can see how they look with and without the long sweater. They actually really slimmed my legs down - I was impressed! But with my belly expanding these next few months, it wasn't an investment I thought was worth making (for now).
French Connection Ellette Crepe Faux Wrap Dress (6) - Honestly, I wasn't too impressed with this dress. The material felt rather cheap and thin, and the seams weren't sewed correctly. The ones on the neckline kept flipping over so you could see the stitching underneath, if that makes sense. While it's seriously cute, I'll be saving this one for a further reduction later in the season.
SARTO by Franco Sarto Lowe Booties (7) - These boots are super super cute! And comfy! They come in black and white and the price isn't too bad at just under $115. I think I'd prefer the white, actually, because it has the wood colored heel, whereas the black is black all over. These will probably be an exchange for me.
Madewell Stripe T-Shirt Dress (M) - Who can resist a striped tee dress?? Not me! I'm glad I sized up to a medium, because it definitely runs a tad small. I prefer my t-shirt dresses to be oversized so I can throw on a belt and for it hang a bit, but even sizing up here felt fitted. The material is seriously soft, though, and the stripe pattern is perfect.
Soludos Ibiza Embroidered Loafer Espadrille (7) - Soludos is one of those brands where I just want to buy every.single.one of their items. Espadrilles have captured my heart lately, and I love how they are a little dressier than sneakers, but more casual than flats. This floral embroidered pair is just another pair that I'm pretty sure I need (want) in my closet. For me, the sizing was right on as usual. Plus, they also come in a mule version!
BP. Stripe Pullover Sweater (S) - I got this sweater to compare against the Topshop striped sweater I reviewed above, and out of the two, this is the one I kept. I love the oversized fit and the soft material, plus I'll never turn down more pops of yellow in my wardrobe. I firmly believe yellow goes with every color, and with the cream and grey it's just as fun (and affordable at just-over $30) addition to my wardrobe.
BLANKNYC A-line Suede Skirt (27) - I have been on the hunt for a suede mini skirt for a while, and was so excited to try this one. I have jeans by this brand, so I got the same size in those and was so disappointed in the sizing. I could hardly get this over my butt just to get a photo - and trust me, the back isn't close to zipped haha. I would think that I'd have to probably go up at least 2 sizes for it to fit. Beside the poor sizing, the faux-suede is a great quality and the color is perfect for bringing into the fall.
Joie Asymmetrical Dotted Chiffon Dress (S) - Does this dress look familiar? Yeah, I already own it in blue floral print haha! This version has little dotted hearts on it and I just fell in love with the print, but I couldn't justify two versions of the same dress, at least for now... It is of great quality, though, and would make a great additional to any closet.
Marc Fisher LTD Hesla Pumps (7) - White pumps make such a fun and retro statement, in my opinion. I was drawn to the shape of the heels on these pumps, which taper down to a point. Plus, they come in about 6 other colors (the mustard yellow suede is so pretty)! I found the size to be true and they're actually comfortable to walk around in, even with a 4" heel.
Thread & Supply Brandon Fleece Jacket (S) - This may be the softest sweatshirt I've ever owned. It's been super popular lately, as I've seen it alllll over Instagram, but was a little unsure of the sheep-esque fleece of it all. But, once I tried it on I fell in love with it. The inside is lined with a comfy jersey-like knit, and the fuzzy outside is so.so.soft. Plus, it also comes in a pullover version as well! A great lounge essential for your wardrobe.
Madewell Adios Tee (M) - Madewell tees are some of my favorite basics in my closet (as seen here), but I was sadly a little disappointed in this tee. It was pretty short, especially for going up a size, and the sleeves were more cap-sleeved than I would prefer. The material itself is 100% cotton so it'll shrink after a wash on top of already being more fitted than I normally go for. For me, this one was a pass.
Zella Live-In Lite Crop Leggings (S) - I've raved about Zella Live-In leggings being my favorite leggings before, more notably in my Home Try-Ons for the Nordstrom Sale last year. I wanted to try the Lite version to see how they compared, and I wasn't totally impressed. The material felt a little too light(?) for my taste in leggings, ironically. It didn't hold everything in as well, but my criteria might be different than yours. I don't really use leggings for working out, but instead for weekend errands and lounging around the house. If you're looking for lighter leggings to wear on warmer days, I think these would be great! But just not for me. I'll go back to the originals, which are also part of the sale!
Vince Rib Trim Silk Blouse (S) - I fell in love with this mulberry color - it's so rich and goes so well with every season! It also comes in a short sleeve version, and a cashmere sweater, if a silk blouse isn't your cup of tea. Vince is one of my favorite brands, and the way this top is made I know it'll last for years to come. Super pretty, well made, and a great staple for your wardrobe.
Mavi Jeans Sharkbite Fringe Hem Jeans (27) - When I ordered these jeans, they were one of the items I expected not to really like. But I wanted to try them anyway, and I'm so glad I did!! I kind of love the fringe hem on these, and how they're a bit different than other black jeans that I own. I think I'm going to exchange for a larger size, just to accommodate my growing bump, but these are such a fun option, especially at just under-$65!
Lewit Alessia Flat Shoes (7) - See my review in Part 1.
Botkier Natalie Bootie (7) - I was really hoping to love these booties! They fit really well and the suede is so lush and a nice dark black. But I was little disappointed at how wide the ankle opening was on me. The ankle is a good mix between a stiletto and a block heel so that it's still supportive yet chic, but it was just a tad too wide on the top for me. Almost a winner!
Happy Shopping!
